Test and document mobile signal strength throughout your rental property

How to Check Signal Strength

For iPhone Users:

  1. Open Phone app
  2. Dial *3001#12345#*
  3. Press Call
  4. Look for "rsrp0" or "RSRP" value
  5. This shows signal in dBm (e.g., -85)

For Android Users:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. About Phone → Status/Network
  3. Find "Signal Strength" or "Network Type and Strength"
  4. Look for dBm value (e.g., -85 dBm)
  5. Alternative: Dial *#*#4636#*#*
Understanding dBm Values
Excellent-50 dBm or higher
Good-60 to -50 dBm
Fair-70 to -60 dBm
Poor-80 to -70 dBm
Very Poor-90 to -80 dBm
No SignalBelow -100 dBm
Testing Best Practices

Where to Test:

  • Living room (main living area)
  • All bedrooms
  • Kitchen
  • Home office/work area
  • Near windows (best case)
  • Interior rooms (worst case)
  • Garden/balcony if applicable

Testing Tips:

  • Test at different times of day
  • Test multiple carriers if possible
  • Remove phone case during testing
  • Stay still while taking readings
  • Wait 30 seconds for signal to stabilize
  • Document with photos/screenshots
  • Test before signing tenancy
